[Solved] Formulas working in one document and no the other?

Postby neil-uk » Sun Nov 24, 2019 11:52 pm

Hi All,

Hoping you can help on this?

I have a document called Drift Caulator, which opens in Open Office, and works.

I want to move this over to the CPL Plog document - but when copying all the cells including the formula I get a #VALUE in the Plog document.

I'm baffled. Can anyone offer advise as to what's going wrong?

Thanks!
N

Named cell Degree_to_radians is blank and Radians_to_degree is text

Thanks for the reply. Sorry perhaps I don't understand the formula, which bits are you saying are missing?

=ATAN(N33*SIN((180-(O33-M33))*Degrees_to_radians)/(L33+N33*COS((180-(O33-M33))*Degrees_to_radians)))*Radians_to_degrees

If you go to the menu Insert -> Names -> Define, you can see that Radians_to_degrees and Degrees_to_radians refer to certain cells. One of those cells is blank and the other contains text. Use the same menu in the document that works and you will see in that case the cells contain certain numbers. You need to set up the non-functioning document so that the names refer to cells that contain those numbers.

Both defined names Degrees_to_radians and Radians_to_degrees are unnecessary. Calc has functions for those conversions.
(AnyExpression)*Degrees_to_radians can be written as: RADIANS(AnyExpression)
(AnyExpression)*Radians_to_degrees can be written as: DEGREES(AnyExpression)

Hi Guys,

Really sorry but I am totally lost!

Could I ask a HUGE favor, and ask whether someone would mind writing this out as formula - using the Cells, rather than defined names?

Sorry to ask, these are bits of formula I never use!

Thanks in advance :)

I fixed the formulas on the sheet Data, cells P31, P39, P47. They now use values I stored in P25 and P26. You can put those wherever you want. Using the built in formulas, as pointed out by MrProgrammer, would be better.
