[Solved] Get color of imported image to set background

Postby teetertotter » Sun Sep 15, 2019 6:54 am

I have an image that I have inserted into Impress. I want to click on area of the image to get the color so that I can set the background of the slide to that color. I see there is a Color Replacer but that doesn't seem to do what I want. Is what I am trying to do possible?

Thanks in advance!

You can get a RGB color code by a third party pixelgraphic image editor software, and then you will able to adjust the color of the background of an Impress document.

Edit: ((I just tried it: it works on any area of the screen. There is nor direct link between this picker software and the OpenOffice/LibreOffice. You must copy the color codes - picked by the software - manually to the background Style of the Impress docuument.))

There is not a direct (prompt) method for this task in the AOO/LO.

The AOO and LO are not pixelgraphic image editors. You can get the color code from the vectorgraphic objects only by the built-in functions or the color-related extensions, like the RGB color picker. The RGB extension use the description of the Styles, the color code will be extracted from the applied Style.

1. Open the image with the free IrfanView
2. Press F12 to open the Paint plugin
3. Select the colour picker tool. Click the colour. You are given the RGB values of the colour.
4. Create a new empty image
5. Select the paint pour tool. Fill the blank image with the colour.
6. Save the image and use it as the slide background.

Since OP is on OSX this might be easier to use:
builtin Digital Color Meter in OS X

Another one for Windows:
