Question re portable or Writer only

Postby not_a_dodo » Tue Dec 04, 2012 7:07 am

Hi,

Sorry if a stupid questions...

Is there a portable version of OpenOffice?
or
can I download Write only as this is all I use at the moment.

I also have 2 pc's one with XP and laptop with Win 7 for travelling.

Also needs to be able to read WPerfect documents - which we used at work before Word came and never changed as WP back then was a far better product.

If on PC would prefer to only have writer.

but if there is a portable version I would like the complete suite so I can relearn the other products :)

thanks for your help

Google for "OpenOffice portable" . Alternately consider AbiWord, a stand alone editor, without a full office suite. If you have ceased using WordPerfect, you should change all documents to another format (.odt?). I cannot answer with any certainty about WP file opening. I think OO had filters up to v3.3 but they were removed for legal reasons (I'm not certain). WP conversions can be carried out by www.zamzar.com
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 18.04.4 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP
