How to update your software information signature

Postby acknak » Wed Nov 04, 2009 5:59 pm

The purpose of this forum is to help people use the (OOo) software. In order to help effectively, we need an accurate description of your current situation, as far as the software is concerned, including at least the name and version for the operating system (OS) and OOo that you're using.

To save time and avoid cluttering the discussion with messages asking for the information, the forum registration process collects the relevant information in your forum "signature," a short message that is automatically displayed with every message you post on the forum. Your signature is part of your user information, your "profile", which is separate from your posted messages. If you change your signature, the updated signature will be displayed underneath all your forum posts, even the older ones.

Please keep your signature information up to date
You can change your signature at any time. We ask that you update your signature so that it always reflects your current software environment.

Here's how:
Direct link to the profile/signature page: Click here to edit your signature
Or, on any forum page, when you are logged in:
  1. Click the "User Control Panel" link (upper left, under the site logo and navigation links)
  2. Click on the "Profile" tab
  3. Click on the "Edit Signature" tab
  4. Update your information
  5. Click "Preview" to check it
  6. Click "Submit" to commit the changes
  7. Click the site logo, or the "Board Index" link, to get back to the main forum page

Guidelines for signature content
You can make your signature whatever you like, but please: No live Internet links. An Internet address as plain text is ok (use the "Do not automatically parse URLs" option); a live link to a site relevant to OOo is ok, but no live links to unrelated sites--commercial or not. Off-topic or spam links may be removed or edited by the forum moderators.
