deactivate fucntion in saved file

Postby spectralhead » Sat Apr 12, 2008 12:18 pm

Hi
i've created a template for making invoices
The date section is set to the function "TODAY" so that i get the current date while making an invoice
However the function is saved with the file..(obviously!!)... and even if the invoice was made a week back i get the current date whenever i open it!
would there be any way to save the date at which the document was saved?.. so that i can see the date at which the invoice was made!
thank u much in advance

The easiest way is to edit the cell containing the formula =TODAY, then press F9 which will calculate the value of the cell, then press ENTER twice to validate. Now the cell contains today's date, but this date will not change.

It's even simpler just to insert the date. The default entry on my system is DD/MM/YYYY. I can enter a date in the current month with the day followed by a forward slash, for example, 13/ There is a macro on ooomacros, Insert Date/Time
