SOLVED: All of sudden the cells that I alter in an existing spreadsheet are being "highlighted." This is NOT the "change recording" mark, but a thick black border on top & left in each cell altered. I can not figure out how to turn this off. It partially obscures cell contents. When I copy & paste to another sheet within the spreadsheet file, this black border persists in the new sheet.

That is the wackiest thing I have seen in a while. The "borders" are actually shadows from the neighboring cells. The easiest way to get rid of them is to select the menu item Edit -> Select All and then the menu item Format -> Default Formatting. If I select less than all of the cells and set Default Formatting, the cells that were not selected suddenly have shadows.

Thank you, as it worked and was simple to do. Like you said "wacky."
