[SOLVED] Fahr-Centigrade, Different than Centigrade to Fahr

Postby RayBir » Sat Nov 30, 2019 11:27 am

Hi Guys and Gals.
I had the same problem before i changed OS, but i dont think that is the issue:
OK, i made small sheet to convert Fahr-Cent - as well as Cent-Fahr.
But i cannot format the cells - let me explain:

Why does the following code (Fahr - Cent):
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
=SUM(D11*9/5)+(32)&" F"

Display the correct amount of decimal places (1)

Whilst (Cent-Fahr):
Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
=SUM(5/9)*(D10-32)&" C"

Displays the result but with 12 decimal places?
I only want 1 decimal place.

I have formated the cells exactly the same.

Cells D10 & D11 are the cells i need to convert.

Tried most obvious things, but no result.

Many thanks in advance.

Select your cell, then /Format Cells : Numbers tab, and select the number of decimal places you need.

You do not need to use SUM(), as the + operator does the job.

I have edited:
Instead of using (5/9) - i just used the actual math = 0.555 - easy when you know how!! :bravo:

As for the SUM() - didn't know that :super:

Many thanks - post is now solved!!
