### Triangle Calculation Posted: Wed Nov 27, 2019 2:36 pm
Hi

I have posted this Forum before but lost my Login details.

Just wondered if someone could help?

I have a long series calc to do for the adjacent side of a triangle.

I know Angle a 40deg therefore Angle c = 50degs and angle b =90degs. the only known size is 180mm or multiples of 180. ie 360, 540 etc

How do I put this into a cell?

Welcome to the Forums.
What is it you are trying to calculate? The lengths of each side, the area, or something else.
You state that you know Angle A is 40 deg., then you are (somehow) concluding that the other two angles must be 50 and 90. How are you coming to that conclusion? From the fact that one angle is 40, you know that the sum of the other two angles is 140, but it could be 1 &139, or 70 & 70 ... there is nothing in the information given that can be used to determine just what those other two angles are.

And if one angle is 90 degrees, remember that the rule is "The square of the hypotenuse is equal to the sum of the squares of the two adjacent sides" . Dear old Pythagoras!
