Document password lost; Can I still open it?

Postby louisesarah » Mon Sep 14, 2020 12:39 am

I put a password on my work document, but I forgot to write it down and can't get into my document now.
Is there a different way to open it without losing everything?

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to the Forums.
Simply put, there is nothing in OpenOffice for this.
This topic has some replies that seem relevant.
OpenOffice 4.1.7, LibreOffice 7.0.1.2 on Windows 7 Pro, Ultimate & Windows 10 Home (2004)

The point of password protection is to deny people access unless they have the password.

If there was an easy way to circumvent this, the password protection would be next to useless.

If you think you might remember the password, be aware that passwords are case sensitive, so it is worth trying a vaguely remembered password with case variations.

Because passwording in OpenOffice is effectively unbreakable, I never recommend that it be used.
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 20.04.1 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP
