How to default paste to "Unformatted text"

Postby RichardPrincipal » Sun Sep 13, 2020 10:46 pm

Every time I want to paste text from copy

I have to go Edit
then Paste Special...

Then a new window opens and I have to pick off "Unformatted text"

This drives me carzy all the time it would be wonderful if the program could be set to "Unformatted text"

But how do you do it

This is from the macro recorder. Copy and paste the macro into a module in MyMacros/Standard then set a shortcut to it.

Code: Select all   Expand viewCollapse view
sub pasteSpecialTextFormat
rem ----------------------------------------------------------------------
rem define variables
dim document   as object
dim dispatcher as object
rem ----------------------------------------------------------------------
rem get access to the document
document   = ThisComponent.CurrentController.Frame
dispatcher = createUnoService("com.sun.star.frame.DispatchHelper")

rem ----------------------------------------------------------------------
dim args1(0) as new com.sun.star.beans.PropertyValue
args1(0).Name = "SelectedFormat"
args1(0).Value = 1

dispatcher.executeDispatch(document, ".uno:ClipboardFormatItems", "", 0, args1())

end sub

There is a keyboard shortcut for Paste Unformatted Text: Ctrl+Alt+Shift V. You can reassign that to some other key combination using the menu Tools -> Customize -> Keyboard. Choose Edit from the Category list near the bottom and scroll through the Function list to find Paste Unformatted Text. You can also use the Toolbars tab to make an icon for this command on the toolbar of your choice.
Windows 10 and Linux Mint, since 2017

You can set a shortcut, a menubar item or a toolbar button to the macro.

If you don't know how to copy and paste the code into a module or how to set one of those items through customize... say... and people can help you with it. Its a two minute job to do it.

If you go to Tools/customize/keyboard you can change ctrl+v so it calls the paste unformatted text command instead of normal paste.

In Windows just go Ctrl+SHIFT+V to paste unformatted text. It works everywhere.
