[Solved] Quotation marks are of the type ' and I need ’

Postby kokoshmel » Sat Dec 28, 2019 5:38 am

Hello, dear forum community! As I wrote above, the quotation marks in my Mac version of Openoffice are of this type: ' . And I need ’. In my Windows version, they are ’. How can I change it in my Mac Openoffice?
Thank you for reading!

LibreOffice menu path:
Tools (Preferences on MAC) - Options - Autocorrect - Autocorrect options - Localised options... Check the Single quotes options/settings.

If you want to keep the feature, it applies to all components of this office suite, you can also apply language [None] to the text in question. This special language turns off all language dependent extras. You find the language selector on the font tab of the formatting dialog.
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

If one wishes to use OpenOffice or LibreOffice as a programming editor (not advised - a good IDE is better) one will need to set language to "None", as Villeroy suggests, otherwise the programming language will complain at every instance of a curly quote when it expects straight quotes.

Zizi64, Villeroy, RoryOF, thank you very much for the information! Although, I will not use Open office for coding.
