HSQL Database Manager Password

Postby Mickey12 » Wed Jun 24, 2020 10:38 am

Hi
I am trying to connect to my dbase with HSQL Database Manager.
HSQL Database Manager requires a password in the connect box.
Is this a password for HSQL itself or a password for my dbase?
So my question is how/where do I set the required password that HSQL Database Manager is needing?

Thanks

I don't know HSQL database manager. I'm fairly sure that it requires a HSQLDB that is not embedded in a Base container.

You haven't mentioned what back end database you are using; at a guess it would be the user/password combination required by the database access privileges which you presumably set up?

Perhaps this might help.
I have not set any passwords.

If this happens to be the database we discussed in April and you are talking about the manager which is shipped with HSQL2, then this might be the wrong forum. Like with any other SQL database, you can set up users and groups of users with access priviledges and passwords. The "master user" SA (system admin) has no password after you converted the database from embedded HSQL because embedded HSQL is just a single-user desktop database in a single file. It should be possible to connect the manager without providing a password for user SA.
The user HSQL guide includes a document accesscontrol-chapt.html

to do what?

Just click in the Command menu, say "SELECT" you get a skeleton of a SELECT statement and some help text below. It is just another console interface similar to Tools>SQL... in the Base window. This one is somewhat better but does not offer syntax highlighting (as far as I can see).

Time to learn about SQL as implemented by HSQL - try the HSQL documentation.

This is well outside the scope of OpenOffice.
