I've created second column, but its empty

Postby Alan Rose » Sun Jun 22, 2008 4:17 pm

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a simple database, just 500 numbers with a name for each number. This created a 24-page report.

Obviously, I'd like to create 2 or 3 columns per page to save space.

I figured out how to create a second column, but its empty. I've now got a 24-page report with one full and one empty column per page.

What do I do?

Thanks again.

So you have this:

Bob
Ted
Alice
Susan

and you like it to be

Bob Ted
Alice Susan

You can't do that with any of the report writers in Base just yet. Nor is there an easy way to re-arrange the data in this fashion using the query designer.

You ca do it by rearranging your data into a temporary table via a Basic script, then run your report against this temporary table.

You can copy your data to a spreadsheet, where you can freely drag around blocks of cells and format. Use page styles, repeating header rows and menu:View>Page Preview
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.

Thank you, that is helpful.
Although, to be clear, what I have is:

1 Bob
2 Ted
3 Carol
4 Alice

...and on the next page:

5 Groucho
6 Chico
7 Harpo
8 Zeppo
...and what I want is:

1 Bob 3 Carol
2 Ted 4 Alice

...and on the next page:

5 Groucho 7 Harpo
6 Chico 8 Zeppo
OOo 2.4.X on Ms Windows XP
