Programmatically editing Report HiddenControls

OK, I give. Haven't fully transitioned from a code copier to a code creator yet. I'm stuck trying to figure out how to open a service (or whatever's required) and edit the HiddenControls in a Base Report. My goal is to edit the SQL command on which the Report is run before it executes, specifically to pass a Purchase Order value from a Form to the Report. I have a working button on the form that executes the Report, I can capture the Purchase Order value programmatically, and I believe I have code somewhere here in my pile to print the report programmatically, too. I just need to figure out how to pass the value, within the program, to the Report before the Report runs.

This is from the Base Report Wizard, NOT Sun Report Builder (whose lack of support for expanding tables rules it out).

I have XRayed the Report, but don't see anything useful in that long list of results.
