OO Linux Desktop right-click Create Document -> (an .ott)

Postby skooter1121 » Fri Jul 30, 2010 4:07 pm

Ubuntu OS
I'd like to be able to use the user/home/template folder to be able to start a new document based upon a template. This folder is opened if you right-click on the desktop, select create document. If I put a template there it just creates a new .ott file on the desktop.

Alternately :

What would be the command line to:

Open OO with ???.ott, create a new document, saving it in /???/???

With the above I can create a script to do same.

Have you managed to do it? If you save a mere .odt file instead of a .ott, does it work?
AOO 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 19.10 and 4.1.5 on Windows 10 (with winPenPack port).

Since the new documents are created by the OS instead of OOo, I would think the "templates" should be standard documents that the OS can copy instead of the template documents used by OOo to create new documents. At least that's the way it works in Windows when right-clicking the Desktop and selecting New to create a new document.
