Perfect - thank you.

I am a long time user of a different spreadsheet and very new to OO and there are a few routines I am finding it hard to complete.

I have 8 clients. Each client has a button assigned on the spreadsheet.

On button press, I wish to have:
The client's identifier inserted at the selected Cell in Column B; (i.e. A,B,C,D,E,F,G,or H, at $B$5) (Each client may have multiple entries)
The row background colour changed across a limited number of columns. (e.g. $B$5:$R$5)
The cursor move to the next row in column B to await input from of one of the eight buttons. (i.e. repeat the routine)
Ideally I would like to have column B populated in a couple of minutes from the macros assigned to the button presses.

If the cursor or active cell is not in column B and the button pressed I would also like to assign an info box (e.g."inappropriate action")

I have tried recording a macro but I always end up back at the first input cell on a button press.

Are you looking for something like in the attached file? The background color of the cells is set to the same color as the button and the string of the cell in column B is set to be the same as the button label.

Hi.
Please be patient - I am having problems viewing emails from this site telling me I have an update and using the link - I just go into a loop with no access to the site. I can get around it.

here is the opening page of the .ods file.

I appreciate your help.
