First off, the latest version of OpenOffice is 4.1.6
If the version number is showing 6.0.7.3, then you probably have LibreOffice, not OpenOffice.
Normally if you do a full installation, which is always recommended for either OpenOffice or LibreOffice, then the offline help system gets installed automatically.
As you are using a Linux variation, most (if not all) of the more recent Linux releases come with LibreOffice already installed.
If your help system isn't working, what, if any error message(s) are you getting? Please be precise with the wording of the error message(s).

Howdo I get and install help for openoffice 6.0.7.3

The LibreOffice has 6.0.7 version, but AOO has not yet.

Normally if you do a full installation, which is always recommended for either OpenOffice or LibreOffice, then the offline help system gets installed automatically.

There are some differences between the installers of the Apache OpenOffice and the LibreOffice:

The installer of the AOO contains all of available (localized) HELPs in the installer, but you must you must download and istall the language tools separatelly for the various languages.

The installer of the LO contains all of available language tools for the various languages, but you must download and istall the localized HELPs for the LibreOffice separatelly.

Sorry about that. I meant LibreOffice 6.0.7.3.

I found help files available in synaptic for LibreOffice 5.1.6 which I do not have installed since I wanted to update to 6.0.7.3.
I tried to install one those help files but I couldn't w/o installing all the rest LO 5.1.6

In floundering around with trying to find Help I downloaded two files, helpcontrol2 and changelog-helpcontrol2. I don't know what to do with these files as there is no install.

There is no help module currently installed, see attachment.

I run Ubuntu 16.04 so I had to download LO from the Internet.

How do you do that? I used apt-get install on libreoffice-help-en-us and it does not work.

Download and extract the help package from the web site.
http://download.documentfoundation.org/ ... -US.tar.gz contains the Debian packages for the US English version of LO 6.0.7 (64-bit).
