I can't Right-Click in Cells Anymore

Issues with installing under all versions of MS Windows

I can't Right-Click in Cells Anymore

Postby D&DKittenDM » Tue Mar 30, 2021 10:28 pm

So, I'm happily working away and, all of the sudden, I try to right-click to insert a row and... no menu. Nothing comes up.

Try clicking in a specific cell. Nothing.

Try clicking in a different sheet. Nothing.

Try clicking in a different file. Nothing.

Close OpenOffice and open again. Nothing.

Reboot computer. Nothing.

I cannot pull up the right-click menu in a spreadsheet no matter what I do. I've checked all the permissions, nothing has changed.

Seriously, I'm starting to lose my mind here. Can anyone help me?

Does right clicking elsewhere, e.g in your browser or on your desktop, work as expected? If not you may have an issue with your mouse.

Yup, tried that, too. My mouse works just fine, everywhere else. Thanks, though.

Try to reset your user profile. There are instructions here.

Sadly, that didn't work, either. :(

Thanks for trying.

I'm going to suggest rebooting in safe mode and then try again.
If that works, then some program that loads under a full start of Windows is interfering with the right in OpenOffice.
If it doesn't, then, at the moment, I'm at a loss.

If you try a portable version?
Very strange indeed. Even in the other modules (Writer for example)?

Try to install the LibreOffice. At least a portable version.

Modal dialog out of screen area? Can you fix it by hitting the Esc key?
Can you switch cells into edit mode by (left) double-clicking on them or by hitting F2?

Yeah, it seems to be an issue with all of OpenOffice. I can't right-click in Writer, either.

Nope. Nope. Nope and nope.

I'm starting to think this may be unsolvable.

The question is - why?

It might be worth checking that the correct mouse driver is installed. I have one computer that sometimes on power up detects and installs a Logitech PS2 mouse instead of the correct ImPS/2 Logitech Wheel Mouse. A reboot usually cures my problem (on Xubuntu). Windows might need a correct mouse-driver downloaded and installed.
