Transfering from WIN7 on one computer to WIN10 on another

Issues with installing under all versions of MS Windows

Transfering from WIN7 on one computer to WIN10 on another

Postby WayneR » Wed Nov 27, 2019 5:15 pm

I'm getting ready to move from one computer (with WIN7) to another (with WIN10).

I have thousands of documents ((texts, spreadsheets) created with OpenOffice that I'll need to transfer. What are the latest and greatest and most efficient steps for making this transfer and being able to directly access the files on the new (WIN10) computer? I'm simply trying to avoid surprises.

Thank you very much

Make sure the fonts on Win 7 machine are installed on the Win 10 machine, then move (Copy is best, not Cut) the documents to the new machine.

Thanks. Where do the fonts reside on the old machine? Are they part of the AppData>Roaming>OpenOffice>4>User folder?

The fonts reside in a system controlled folder - use Windows Control Panel /Fonts to find them.
