Issues with installing under all versions of MS Windows

Open Office 4.1.7 will not install

Postby james3905 » Sun Nov 24, 2019 12:59 am

Keep getting the message attached when trying to "run as administrator" the downloaded installation file. What's going on in my system? Thanks for any help with this.

From the message, you already have OpenOffice 4.1.7 installed. Are you trying to reinstall it? If so, start TaskManager (Ctrl Shift Esc) and kill all "soffice" processes shown on TM's tabs. Note "soffice", with an initial "s".

You may be running into the Windows Defender problem.

See [Tutorial]Problems with Windows Defender under Windows 10 for a discussion of Windows Defender - Controlled Folder Access and how to enable AOO and/or LO.

I've gotten this message even when an older version of OpenOffice was still active in memory. The steps already given apply even if it's an older version that is still active in the system.
