[Solved] Need to repeat a field on a new page

Postby dreamquartz » Sun May 26, 2019 9:38 pm

Hello Everyone,

I am using fields, provided by a registered database to fill out forms.
I need to repeat numerous fields, called Participant, on multiple pages.
In Writer I use "Insert-> Field-> More Fields-> Database->Mail merge fields & Next Record" to add a new Participants in the same group.
This works great on a single page, but it does not seem to work on a multi page document, as where it is needed to repeat all the Participants.
I use "Next Record" for Participants, but the last one on the page, to fill out a Form.

Does anyone have any idea how to go about this one?

Thanks in advance,

Dream

Off the top of my head: perhaps you may need to assign the database field to a User field, which is the displayed fieed for further instances of the database field.

There is an article at

and a linked (complex?) example from that page at
http://b2b.cbsimg.net/downloads/Frye/Appointed_Counsel_Prep_Package.zip
which may be of use.
Apache OpenOffice 4.1.7 on Xubuntu 18.04.4 (mostly 64 bit version) and very infrequently on Win2K/XP

Hi RoryOF,

I created a simple database and a form.
Everything on page 1 must be also on any following page.

I am using fields, provided by a registered database to fill out forms.
I need to repeat numerous fields, called Participant, on multiple pages.

Put the fields into the Header, then they will repeated automatically on every pages which has same Page Style in the .odt document.
Apply a different Page Style on the pages where you not needed the fields.

I think it is an automatic process. just get the fields into the header and everything will work fine.

Definitively a good idea, however I need to be able to cover the whole page anywhere.
The odt document does not allow to cover the whole page as a Header, to make it work.
The Header does allow to do the principle, but the header is limited in height ( = restricted by the odt design).
Changing the whole page as a Header Style, it does not work either.

Any other thoughts are welcome.

Can header and footer cover the hole page?

How about putting the Field in a frame, and anchoring the frame to the header or footer?

Yup.
That's the answer.
If you create a field, linked to a header, you can make it cover the whole page.
Repeating the page, will lead to the answer I am looking for.
See Example

Thank you so much
