Create a Search Form and make it work

Postby NIKOSP » Fri Nov 04, 2016 1:23 pm

Hello, I am new to databases, creating forms, etc.

I downloaded LibreOffice as I found it pretty interesting and I have watched all the videos that had to do with Base. I kinda lost in the way though.

This is I want to do: create a simple Search Form. I made a table, imported all the data from the calc file, I have 14 fields (including the ID). I also created a form and a SubForm. I want to create a Search button and three Search Fields (Company, Model, Type) in the Form. Only the SubForm will include all 14 fields. For example: if I want to search via Company, I will write the name of the company in the Search Field Company in the Form, press the Search Button and the results to appear to the SubForm. Unfortunately I can't make it work as I am missing something.

Would really appreciate any kind of help/answer.

Thank you in advance.

Ps. Can't attach a picture as it says I need 3 points to do that!

Have you used the Forum search at top right of Forum window to search for previous postingson a time/date button on this subject? I can recollect that a similar subject has arisen on Forum quite a number of times.

I haven't used the Forum Search but what time/date button has to do with the Search Form I want to make? It's just as it's shown in the picture...

You get a search form for free if you push the form filter button on the navigation toolbar. An additional toolbar pops up and your form becomes a blank filter form where you can enter filter criteria.
Text boxes have a property "Filter Proposal". If set to Yes, the box turns into a list box with unique values while in filter mode.

The receipt for a macro free filter form has been posted several times. Search for "power filtering"
Please, edit this topic's initial post and add "[Solved]" to the subject line if your problem has been solved.
