Stopping animated gif

I've downloaded an animated gif for my presentation but it loops. I can't find a way to stop or slow down the loops which are distracting to my audience. Is there a control to do this?

Well, good news and bad.
The good news, is that there is a way of controlling it.
The bad news, is that the control (or at least for any that I've seen) is incorporated into the GIF.
So to change it, you'd have to change the coding of the GIF, which, to my knowledge, OpenOffice does not have the ability.

On the gripping hand, there seem to be a lot of tools out there for editing animated GIFs in Windows. Try this search

This site has an overview of animated GIF files. In your case, simply changing the loop control values should resolve your problem.

1. Open the GIF
2. When it gets to the image you want, press Alt+PrtScrn. This copies the active window to the clipboard.
3. Paste the image into an image editor, crop off the edges and save it.

Or use IrfanView which has an Extract all frames ..., command, to split the GIF into individual frames.

Showing that a problem has been solved helps others searching so, if your problem is now solved, please view your first post in this thread and click the Edit button (top right in the post) and add [Solved] in front of the subject.
