Hi, I've got a problem with openoffice math, version 2.3.1.

I am running on Windows Vista 64bit, with Sun JVM 1.6r3 AMD 64bit .

The problem is that when I write a formula with math in a document, all I get is a sequence of ?!⌂, simbols like this.
Here is a screenshoot:
openofficemathsshotxf8.jpg
I get same things if I remove the < >.

What can I do ?

I hope someone can help me.

If I understood well you tried to write some summs:
sum from {i=1} to {100} A
This formula showing no strange characters.
Link to OOo Documentation on Writer/Math/ entering formula:

Some examples on Math usage (in German, but easy for everybody):

Sorry for crosspost, I thought these 2 forums were totally indipendent. Sorry.

You're right, the 2 forums are totally independent. I don't consider that as crossposting. oooforum could vanish from the web at anytime, this is one of the reasons this forum went live few months ago.

I tag this thread as solved.

The forums may be technically independant - but in fact the people providing most of the answers coincide in both forums. So in fact double postings make more work and thus make the thing less efficient.

I may not know the history and not enough about the people behind both forums. But the OOo Community Forum is technically superior to OOoForum, so I see only disadvantages from the fact that OOoForum additionally exists. Especially from the perspective of (new) users the existence of two "official" forums is quite confusing.

I know this has already been discussed, and I also know the argument that also for other software there may be plenty of forums (and in fact of course also for OOo there are more forums). But these two have an "official" touch, and are the ones primarily used by new users, which makes the thing different.

Best regards,
phil

I started a "Site Issues" thread over here: http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... 1789#p7506.

I suggest we carry on any further discussion there.
