[Solved] Writer: export the document as image

Post by TheExplorer »

Hello,

First of all, sorry if it has been answered before.

Is there an option to save or export the whole document (or page) to some image format?

Is there an extension or a built-in option for that?

Thank you.

It has been asked and the answer is No, if you happen to be using Apache OpenOffice Writer; or Yes, but if you are using LibreOffice. In the case of LO you can only export one page at a time, either as JPEG, PNG or WebP image format.

I found no extensions at https://extensions.openoffice.org/

There may be online conversion services such as Zamzar that might be able to convert entire documents.

If you are not already using LibreOffice then you should consider making the switch. There are several good reasons to switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice, some of which are mentioned here: [Tutorial] Considering a Switch from OpenOffice to LibreOffice? Some Useful Information
LibreOffice (Still) 7.6.5.2 (x64) Fully installed to system on Windows 10 and Windows 11
LibreOffice (Still) Portable 7.6.5.2 (x86) [PortableApps] on Windows 10

Whatever the application anyway, you can do that by using PDFCreator. Do as you would make a PDF and in the last dialog when it asks for a file name, change the file type to .png or .jpg.
Haven't experienced how it handles multiple pages though.

Please add [Solved] at the beginning of the title in your first post (top of the topic) with the 🖉 button if your issue has been fixed.

I did a search for odt to jpg and the first result

https://convertio.co/odt-jpg/

Is free and worked with a simple single page test odt file without any hassle at all (no signing up or email faff on)
