Pinning cells?

Post by jimfromtx »

I've got a rather unwieldy and large table I want to create. I remember that in MS Excel, there is a way to "pin" cells, so that they remain at the side/top of the screen, so you can scroll your data, and keep the row/column headings visible. Is there a way to do so with OpenOffice? If so, how? It would be great if I could do so and be able to pin all of it, but if you can only pin however much can be visible at a time, I can always do multiple sheets. Thanks for the help!

Check out the top menu ...Window/ Split or Freeze.

I'll assume you have column headers in row 1, and row headers in column A. To freeze the top row and the left column, select cell B2, and choose Window->Freeze from the menu. The "Freeze" menu item gets a check mark, and the headers are frozen. To unfreeze them, just select Window->Freeze again to un-check that item.
