[Solved] Opening a text file in Calc
[Solved] Opening a text file in Calc
I can't seem to be able to use CALC to open a .txt file. Must I save the .txt file in another format to use Calc to process a tab-delimeted table?

Re: Using alternative applications
Yes, that's rather tricky : you've to go to Insert>Sheet from file, then select your file and the filter will appear.

Re: Using alternative applications
You can do it with File > Open, but using the Insert > Sheet > From file is actually the better way.

Re: Using alternative applications
Right, but you've to find in the File Type drop-down list the Text CSV (*.csv, *.txt, *.xls) entry near the end of the list.acknak wrote:You can do it with File > Open

No. I do that from inside CALC and when I select a text file it opens in WRITE, not CALC.Hagar de l'Est wrote:Right, but you've to find in the File Type drop-down list the Text CSV (*.csv, *.txt, *.xls) entry near the end of the list.acknak wrote:You can do it with File > Open

Re: Using alternative applications
Have you selected the file type Text CSV (*.csv, *.txt, *.xls) in the drop-down list ???

Not sure which "dropdown list" you mean, but after File, Open, select .txt from the dropdown in the open file dialog, then select a file, and it opens in WRITER.Hagar de l'Est wrote:Have you selected the file type Text CSV (*.csv, *.txt, *.xls) in the drop-down list ???

Can't find any other dropdown list.
Edit: "Insert sheet from file" works to solve my issue.
