[Solved] Opening a text file in Calc

I can't seem to be able to use CALC to open a .txt file. Must I save the .txt file in another format to use Calc to process a tab-delimeted table?

Yes, that's rather tricky : you've to go to Insert>Sheet from file, then select your file and the filter will appear.

You can do it with File > Open, but using the Insert > Sheet > From file is actually the better way.

No. I do that from inside CALC and when I select a text file it opens in WRITE, not CALC.

Not sure which "dropdown list" you mean, but after File, Open, select .txt from the dropdown in the open file dialog, then select a file, and it opens in WRITER.

Can't find any other dropdown list.

Edit: "Insert sheet from file" works to solve my issue.
