Saving Calc file as Interactive Web Page(HTML)

Post by veera »

I first created a simple Fuel Calculator in MS Excel and embed the active cells in the Web Page. This can be done in MS Excel by saving the file as HTML and enabling the "Add Interactivity" check box while saving.

After installing Open Office (version: 3.0.0) i tried to do the same in Calc but in vein. I saved the file as HTML but it lacked the interactivity which was in MS Excel. Is there any way in which i can embed a Calc file into a web page with interactivity?

Thanks in advance... :)

Could you point me to any website where such a spreadsheet works for me without using both, MS Internet Explorer and Excel?
 Edit: OK, I found one: http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/09/embe ... heets.html

Visit http://sheet.zoho.com/login.do?serviceurl=%2Fhome.do
Get your own account and upload or paste your Excel sheet. At least it is announced to work like that. In this case it would not matter which application made the spreadsheet in the first place.

No formulas only labels and zeros. Can export open document format.
An reason why you need Excel for this? If it can't import ODF, it can certainly import xls. Calc can produce xls.

http://zohowikihelp.wiki.zoho.com/Embed-Zoho-Sheet.html describes how to embed a spreadsheet after uploading it. Simply create your xls spreadsheet in any software and use the Zoho service for the rest.

You don't see this option? Then it is not there. It is not an Excel feature anyway. Microsoft has some deal with Zoho and added a menu item linked to that particular online service. That's all. You have the free choice of online services if you simply upload your spreadsheet document.
May be you like some of the other ones: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Online_spreadsheet

I am attaching the winrar file with this post. there are 3 files in that

1. OOo Calc spreadsheet calculator
2. HTML file for the calculator, which is created in OOo Calc
3. HTML file for the calculator, whcih is created in excel

What i mean to say is the i have added the OOo Calc file in the HTML page with the iFrame HTML tag, which requires the .ods file for displaying it on the webpage.

Whereas the other HTML file, whcih displays the Excel calculator doesn't need the .xls file at all.
The HTMl file in this case was obtained by Saving the file as Web Page (along with Interactivity) in the File Manu of MS Excel.

If the user doesn't have access to internet to upload the file to zohosheets or google docs, is there an option link this in OOo Calc?
