[Issue] Insert Chart On Separate Sheet

Post by TerryWood »

Hi All

I want to insert a chart on a completely separate worksheet instead of putting it on the same sheet as my data. How do I do it please?

Plenty of detail please I'm no expert

Thanks

Did you try to cut & paste to the other sheet after you finish creating it?

Hi

Yes I can cut and paste but thats not what I want to do. Excel has the ability tio choose current or new sheet. I cannot find this option. Although early help versions of OO Calc talk about this

I don't see any way to do it other than cut and paste after the chart is created.

The chart component was completely re-written, first appearing in OOo 2.3.0, and there are still some features of the older implementation that are not complete in the new.

I don't see any issue filed for this, so if it's important to your tasks, I encourage you to file a feature request.

Excel has a special type of sheet, consisting of a chart only without cells. No, OpenOffice.org does not have such sheets. Place your embedded chart on it's own sheet and set zoom and size accordingly. Next version 2.4 is reported to support individual zoom levels for each sheet.

I am certain I had replied to this. Oh, well ....

The solution already given: You might also consider putting it on its own page [printed page, not sheet.] In order to facilitate that, go to Page Break Preview and drag blue borders around until you get an open page for printing. [You can see/create all pages to be printed in this view.] put the graph image there, and size to fit.

Hi All

To Answer the Question "How do you insert a chart on a separate sheet"

DO THIS

Put or all ready have in place on one sheet your data

Go to new sheet

Click on chart wizard button on main menu

Go through wizard until you get to data range part then click on browse icon

Go to sheet where data is and select the data

Complete the wizard details

Voila you have produced a new chart on a separate sheet from the data (as in Excel)
