Corrupted.doc file

Post by roeeo »

:alarm:

I have a rather urgent problem. i have spent the day working on an assignment due this evening. the file was originally a .doc and i just kept working in this format and did not save as an .odt

i have saved the file many times today and pressed save again before opening another file. when this file started went to open the computer has had a massive fail and frozen completely. i had no option other than the old hard reboot.

upon going back to look at my assignment file writer now cannot determine the contents and can only present 14 pages of #.

a copy of the file is attached in case anyone is able to help.

there is no backup in the /applications data folders, probably because it was a .doc file.

i do hope someone out there can help.

Looks like you file is toast all ####### in the file. To have a backup copy use Tools-->Options--->Load\Save-->General. Check "Always create a backup copy". Backups are stored here C:\Documents and Settings\<user name>\Application Data\OpenOffice.org\3\user\backup.
