I've searched the forum for this topic, but haven't been able to find an explanation for how to search a text document for line breaks (or double lines) breaks.
Some people advise using the $ sign or \n, but that doesn't seem to work, either with reg ex turned on or off.
Same goes for page breaks, by the way: how can you search for those?

Re: find line breaks/carriage returns
Ho stop -- so the $ sign does work. With Reg Ex turned off. Must have done something wrong first time round.
Eh... and page breaks?

Re: find line breaks/carriage returns
And now once more it doesn't work. What's with this search function?

Re: find line breaks/carriage returns
Okay, so now it works again. Geeze. And apparently it was with Reg Ex turned ON.
It doesn't exactly help that the extra search options are reset to default for every CTRL+F, and you have to click each time to make them visible.
Also, although I can search for $, I cannot search for $$. Why is that? That's *actually* what I was trying to find -- double line breaks.

Re: Find line breaks/carriage returns
Well, just to answer my own question again: it seems that ^$ finds me what I want (empty paragraph, the manual calls it; I'm not sure whether that's the same as two line breaks, but it will do).
