[Solved] Problem with pattern (in German=Vorlage)

Post by piano1311 »

Please excuse, when I write my problem in german. I do not know the english expressions from oo.
My posting in more than one german forum was without success.
As I got just in this forum excellent answers, I try it her.

I have OO 3.0.0 -OOO300m9-(Build:9358) and XP professional

Is there a bug, or I can get a tip?
Thanks for an answer

Gruß

It is possible that OOo keeps a list of your templates (Vorlagen in German) in a separate database and that it gets confused if you rename or delete templates in Windows explorer instead of with the organizer in the File - New - Templates and Documents (Vorlagen und Dokumente) - Organise (button).

Indeed. The templates are listed in one of the configuration files in the user profile (can't remember which one exactly). So never do that directly. And once you rename/delete a template through the template dialog, better close OOo and the Quickstarter so that the list is correctly updated (especially if you delete a template to add a new one with the same name).

Thanks to add '[Solved]' at beginning of your first post title (edit button) if your issue has been fixed.

Thanks floris v and Hagar de l'Est for the quick answers,

I used always ren/del in oo without problems. I mean the problem were beginning
with OO 3.0.0 -OOO300m9-(Build:9358), but I am not sure.
I worked like:

1. Stop Quickstarter
2. ren/del with Freecommander (a better tool than Windows Explorer)
3. Start oo again

As ren/del for templates is to do nearly every weak in our organisation
for handicaped man (no payed job), I pray, to get more exact tips.

I do not understad all You wrote, per example floris v with:
... use the organizer in the File - New - Templates and Documents (Vorlagen und Dokumente) - Organise (button).
Was is meaned with Organise (button)?

Please excuse my old scool-english,
a good New Year 2009
and thanks for answers

See attached image. Click the button at the bottom of the dialog box. A new dialog box opens with templates in the left box and (open?) files in the right box. You can then select templates in the left box and delete them, rename the, or anything else you want to do.
