[Issue] Cursor row/column

Post by amsmota »

Hello:

I want to know when I'm writing what is the current row/column of the cursor. I found no way to do such a simple thing.

Can anyonehelp?

Cheers.

It's not possible to show.

What are you trying to do that requires that information?

The feature has been requested: Issue 18004: Line Number of Cursor Position Should Be Shown in Status Bar
You can register there and add your vote (up to two) or comment.

I don't want to do nothing funny, really. Just keep on writing until I reach column 80, then hit a return, then write again until column 80 and so on until row 24.

I'll vote on the issue.

Thanks for your quick reply.

What kind of document are you working on? That sounds like a very unusual sort of task for a word processor.

If you really want to do that, all you have to do is set up a template with a monospaced font, a right margin at 80 characters (you have to find that manually since it varies depending on the font size) and a bottom margin at 24 lines (set the line spacing to some fixed value).

Here's a template that does that:

Thanks for that, it's useful to do some ascii-art (not my first intent, though). :)
