Documents with embedded sound clips

I have a .doc file which has embedded sound clips. It used to play but now will not since I started using Open Office Writer. The document is also on the web at, among other places,
http://office-humour.co.uk/download.cfm?id=229 I suspect that there is a setting that needs tweaking in OO Writer to play embedded sound bites. Can someone advise, please?

You saved in .doc format, that may cause the problem. Conversion between OOo and Word format is sadly not 100 % accurate.

You don't say what version of OOo you are using, but they seem to work in 3.1.1 OK.

It played all right on my Win2k system, but why bother?

My version is 3.1.1 Why bother? No huge need, but if it works for Microsoft I would have thought it would work in Open Office. If it's just that I have a setting wrong, I can change it. If it's because Writer does not have that capability ...

It works OK on Sun OOo 3.1.1 on my Win2K. The Win2K system I used has Sun JMF installed and it may be that this is doing the playing. Have a look at www.Java.com for JMF - installation is straightforward for Windows, but very picky for linuxes.
