Unable to open WordPerfect X3 files in OpenOffice

Post by berenlazarus »

Hello

I am unable to open my documents created in Word Perfect X3 (and some in X4) when I use Open Office 3.4.0, running XP. When I attempt to open any file, it says "ASCI Filter Options: Properties". Then it has the following drop headers, each with drop downs to select "Character Set, Default Fonts, Language, Paragraph Break". This occurs with all documents that I have tried opening. All documents work fine in Wordperfect.

Thanks in advance.

However, you are best off converting your files to OpenOffice formats. I'd use
http://www.zamzar.com
and convert them all and be done with it.

What makes you think that this program supports these file formats? WordPerfect is a Corel product with a highly sophisticated and proprietary (top secret) file format.

AOO WordPerfect import had been dropped with 3.4 due to licensing and security issues.
