Path to data files
Path to data files
Using Open Office Version 3.2 on Windows 7. Is there any way to make separate paths to the data files?? i.e ../worddocs for Text documents; ../xlsdocs for Calc Documents??? If we can't do that how about when you open the folder from calc you would only see *.xls (or whatever the extension is for OO) and *.doc for the text document, etc.?

Re: Path to data files
Always save your documents into native Openoffice formats (if you use the Openoffice)! (nativ ODF formats: odt, ods, odp, odg...) The ODF formats are international standards!
And then, at end of editing make a non-ODF copy (xls, doc) if necessary. But when you re-edit an old document you need to open the native-format version.
This solution is much safer.

You can use an extension filter at file opening...If we can't do that how about when you open the folder from calc you would only see *.xls (or whatever the extension is for OO) and *.doc for the text document, etc.?

Re: Path to data files
As far as I remember there is no way to set up separate paths for the different file types. There was discussion on the subject at (inter alia)
http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... f=6&t=3661
One offered solution was to set up a default directory and under it make separate directories for each type. That way there is only need to navigate down one level to save in the correct directory.
