[Solved] The rehosting of OOo Forums at Apache (ASF)

Post by TerryE »

Latest: The forum is now running on ASF infrastructure

As previously discussed, the OpenOffice.org community forums are being rehosted within the Apache Software Foundation infrastructure as part of the Apache OpenOffice.org project. Cutover was previously planned to occur this weekend (29/30 Oct), but due to circumstances beyond our control, the previous server infrastructure at the Oracle Hamburg offices has been shut down a day early. (This was the previous home of the Oracle OpenOffice development team.)

This copy of the Live system taken as 17:22 UTC on 27th Oct (yesterday), will therefore be the baseline for the forum going forward. Unfortunately posts to the legacy Hamburg system following this snapshot will be lost. Our apologies for this, but in this circumstance these posts are not practically recoverable.
  • The DNS entry change for user.services.openoffice.org (usOOo) was executed at midnight.
  • Following this DNS cut-over, we have again adopted the usOOo address.
  • If you are logging onto this forum via ooo-forums.apache then you may have trouble logging in, so please use our normal usOOo address. (This is an architectural constraint of our phpBB configuration: the domain name is "hardwired" into our links so we can't serve multiple aliases.)
  • I will add a redirector for ooo-forums.apache to the corresponding usOOo page tomorrow.
  • If you have problems logging in then please clear your browser cookies for this site and retry
There may be some intermittent outages tomorrow. Unfortunately some of the integration testing that we hoped to carry out prior to cut-over now have to be carried out on the live service because of the unscheduled move-up of the cut-over of usOOo to this service. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

If you wish to discuss this general topic, please refer use Discuss rehosting of OpenOffice.org forums at Apache (ASF).
