[Solved] Sharing forms on a LAN

Post by PY Delens »

Bonjour,
is it possible to share (concurrent opening) forms connected to a database?
Indeed, entering data via the form doesn't modify the Writer file.
Is there documentation about this?
Should we set a setting as ReadOnly?
Or should I replicate these Writer files on our workstations?
(The question is raised because forms are evolving ...)

Thanks on forward

Next time please ask one topic per post,
is it possible to share (concurrent opening) forms connected to a database?
Yes and no.
Yes if a database file used as frontend to real database on server.
No if database a odb file with HSQLDb built in database, single file with single user.
You can separate database form from database file, in that case standalone form can be connected to OOo registered database, it needs to be done on every installation.
Is there documentation about this?
Roberto Benitez's document, and Book on Forms.
Should we set a setting as ReadOnly?
If you opens a form connected to database, it opens that you can only write into fields, layout read only. If you opens it and on Form Design toolbar you activate edit mode you can change the form.
Or should I replicate these Writer files on our workstations?
it is back to the first answer.
