Hi, everyone.
I am using OpenOffice 3.3. I have been away from M$ products for 1 year now, and I enjoy OpenOffice very much.
My problem is that OO generates error message as below:
javaldx: Could not find a Java Runtime Environment!
I recently installed JDK and uninstalled JRE, and I know that JDK includes Java Runtime Environment in its own package.
I was also told that there's no need to install both JDK and JRE together.
Does anyone know how to remove this error?

Re: JRE error [JDK installed]
OOo 3.3 works correctly only with java 1.6.0u22 or older. If you use newer 1.6 version it can be cause performance problem, the 1.7 version not recognisable by OOo 3.3.
Edit: This is true only for linux version of OOo 3.3 or older, under windows OOo 3.3 works correctly with latest java 1.6 version u30. |

Re: JRE error [JDK installed]
OOo doesn't recognize JRE 7. It's also possible that you told OOo to use Java but didn't select a JRE from the list (Tools - Options - OOo - Java).

Yes, I installed the latest version (1.7). Should I downgrade java to 1.6? or is there any way to tell OOo to recognize the newer version?r4zoli wrote:OOo 3.3 works correctly only with java 1.6.0u22 or older. None at all, maybe it gets fixed in the next update.
As far as I know you can have more than one Java version on a computer.

The Base performance problem remains until java bug is fixed, under linux: http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bu ... id=7024514
Which can be a long time.
