[Solved] Emailing attachments with Windows Live Mail

Post by annlang »

I used to be able to send an OPenOffice attachment as a pdf file or MS document or excel spreadsheet by choosing the one I wanted. Now I get the message "OpenOffice was unable to find a working email configuration. Please save this documents locally instead and attach it from within your email client." The only way I can now send an email attachment is as an OpenOffice file and people who don't have OO can't open it. I don't understand why I used to be able to choose another format but now I can't anymore.

Just a guess here, you have upgraded to Windows Live Mail and the function stopped working. Search for Live Mail in the search box above and you will find this has been brought up before. Look at the threads and see if you can find something that helps.

Yes, that is correct. I now have windows 7 - got a new computer about 6 months ago - and use Windows Live Mail instead of Outlook Express. I will take your suggestion to check this out. Thank you!

I found the solution to this problem. I had to uninstall Windows Live Mail 2011 and reinstall the 2010 version.
