[Solved] Can not uninstall or reinstall OpenOffice.org 3.2.1
[Solved] Can not uninstall or reinstall OpenOffice.org 3.2.1
Live was grand a few days ago... Then I followed the advice to upgrade to ver 3.2.1 from 3.1.1. The initial install failed with error code 1316, unable to read file c:\windows\installer\openofficeorg32.msi. It has been all downhill from there. I have spent over 8 hours over the past two days reading hints/tips/guidelines from this and the original Open Office board. I have run the checksum to ensure my download of ver 3.2 is accurate. I have run several different registry cleaners, I have gone into regedit and searched for any entry about OpenOffice. Still Open Office 3.2 shows up in the Control Panel/Programs section and I can not uninstall, remove or install ver 3.2. I continue to receive the error 1316. I even put a copy of the *.msi file in c:\windows\install and could not uninstall the program. Of course ver 3.1 is long gone. I have tried to reinstall direct from the folder holding the unpacked 3.2 files using setup, no go. I have even copied the ISO file and burned a CD in attempts to load from there, nothing. Any suggestions on how to get rid of 3.2 and start over? Frustrated in North Carolina!

Try Revounistaller http://www.revouninstaller.com/revo_uni ... nload.html. Be sure to delete the program files directories C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 3 as well as the user profile http://user.services.openoffice.org/en/ ... 74&t=12426. The other option is to try the Windows Installer Cleanup utility http://majorgeeks.com/Windows_Installer ... d4459.html.

It is amazing how easy an installation can go when all the registry data is REMOVED! Thanks a million for the heads up on Revo Uninstaller it worked like a charm. OOo ver 3.2.1 installed and working just fine. By the way, the registry 'cleaner's used that did NOT remove all of OOo, Norton's 360 ver 4, JV16 Power Tools 2010, WinCleaner ver 11.4.2, and Comodo Registry Cleaner ver 2.2.3. I did try to get this fixed without bugging the smart ones! Thanks again. Problem solved.
