Tried that link just now attempting to install a release candidate from OOo_3.3.0rc3_20101029_Win_x86_install-wJRE_en-US.exe, and it didn't work. I even uninstalled the latest Java update.

I found that one with Google and after first painstakingly checking all those register settings - they were all correct - ran the fixitforme program as well. After that I tried my luck here.

Follow-up: I re-installed the dev snapshot, without any trouble, and an attempt to re-install go-oo 3.2.1 got past the opening phase, so it may be related to the latest release candidates, btw I also downloaded the file without the JRE, and that too didn't install due to the error 1606 (without any other qualification, for some reason that's suppressed on my computer a lot).

Thanks. As the RC 4 has been taken off the servers already, I'll wait for the next one.
