Hello,
I couldn't find a topic for the actual 3.2 version, not the RCs. So, I downloaded 3.2 this morning and tried installing on my computer (running windows 7):
First I get a progress bar:
"Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.21022.218"
"Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Visual C++ 2008"
"Redistributable - x86 9.0.21022.218..."
As the bar goes across, it hangs at the end and I get this error message:
"Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 Redistributable - x86 9.0.21022.218"
"Error 1935. An error occurred during the installation of assembly"
" 'Microsoft.VC90.ATL, version="9.0.21022.218", publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b", processorArchitecture="x86",type="win32".'"
"Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 0x800736FD."
It hasn't moved for hours.
Can anyone help me figure out a way to install?

You might read here for a alike problem (but the post has a high technical level). Near the end there is tip about a registry setting... Look to post of Jim Tochterman, at Date Aug 28, 2009
It is not related to OOo, but it is a pure MS windows issue.

So it won't matter if I uninstall the ESRI software? I don't need it at the moment and it's been interfering with a PDF printer I use. Everytime I print to PDF, it runs the ESRI installer for some reason.

Did you look for the registry key that sets the registry size limit and modify it to "unlimited" if it exists? Windows 7 isn't supposed to have that registry key when first installed, but it's my understanding that some third-party software may look for this key during installation. I don't have the key in either Vista or Windows 7 and have never seen the error 1935.sprocket wrote:So it won't matter if I uninstall the ESRI software? Understanding and configuring Registry Size Limit (RSL)
Registry Size Limit functionality has been removed from Windows Server 2003 and from Windows XP

Re: OOo 3.2 failed install on Windows 7
Since I am having a somewhat similar issue, even with the official 3.2 release which seems to be identical to RC5, I tried the fixes from above ...
EDIT: I forgot...
sfc /scannow also passed without reporting any error.
The registry key discussed in the ESRI forums does not exist on my system.
Do I now create the key or is everything fine as it is?
The only application giving me this kind of problem (on Windows 7) is OpenOffice ... everything else runs, and installs/upgrades, perfectly fine.
Ok, so I got the netfx_setupverifier tool and ran the tests on the .NET frameworks (2.0 SP2, 3.0 SP2, 3.5 SP1) it detected as being installed. All three .NET frameworks passed the checks without error.eremmel wrote:You might read here for a alike problem (but the post has a high technical level). [SOLVED] Re: OOo 3.2 failed install on Windows 7
SOLVED
I used the fix eremmel suggested on the ESRI forums:
-----------------------------------------------------
Resolution -
1) If you are receiving the "Low Registry Space" error, set the Registry Size Limit to "unlimited":
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control
Key: RegistrySizeLimit
Type: REG_DWORD
Value: 0xffffff (4294967295)
2) Reboot
3) As a Administrator open a Command Prompt and run "SFC /SCANNOW". The command should complete successfully and if any errors were found, they should be corrected.
-----------------------------------------------------
This worked for me! It installed fine and works!
