Install OpenOffice error

Post by tismlps »

Welcome beginner. What is your question or comment?
Please try to briefly and clearly tell us: What you want, What you tried, and What happened.

I was trying to restore open office(2.0) The only thing I could start was 3.0, so I tried to download that. the message I got was 'self checker failed' http://nsis.sf.net/NSIS. The next instructions told me to 'clear browser cache' but not how to do that. Can I, please, get instructions in simple English so I can retrieve my files. Thank you

It sounds like the installer file you downloaded may be corrupt. Delete and download a fresh copy from here http://www.openoffice.org. Clearing the browser cache depends on what browser you are using:
Firefox---->Tools----->Options----->Privacy Tab. Under Private Data Click the "Clear Now" button.
For IE7 Tools--->Internet Options----->General Under Browsing History Click Delete.
The NSIS error is usually caused by a corrupt download. http://nsis.sourceforge.net/Why_do_I_get_NSIS_Error.
