I had the same problem as wh9991 in his thread Install and Register Java.
I'm running Win7 64 bit and had the 2 versions (64 & 32 bit) of Java installed as recommended on the Java website and had the same problem as wh9991. I now have only Java Ver. 1.6.0_33. does this mean that for Open Office to I should only have one Java version installed. Also why wont Open Office work with the, presumably, newer version 7 of Java??

Re: Confused by Java Install
Since AOO is 32bit on Windows, you need a 32bit version of Java. You can have several versions, they will not interfere with AOO.
Some changes have been done in the Java entry points as far as I've understood, hence some problems with Java 7. But it seems to work for some users, perhaps if you don't need the modified features of Java.

Re: Confused by Java Install
And is there one that is correctly registered by AOO?
