PDF export of embedded flash/swf files

Post by zesp »

Hi there,

I've embedded a flash/swf file in my odp presentation (Insert/Object/Plug-in...)
The animation perfectly works in slideshow mode.
Unfortunately, the pdf export does not keep it (I just get a white page).
I've tried playing with the pdf export options, in vain.
Still, it seems to me it should be possible somehow...

I have Acrobat Pro 8 and no probs exporting the same animation in Powerpoint.
All the files are attached in the archive (draft.swf, draft.ppt, draft.ppt.pdf, draft.odp, draft.odp.pdf).

Any clue?
Cheers,
Z

From that other thread:
The OpenOffice.org application's export to PDF function includes a subset of the capabilities of the PDF format. Media embedded in an OpenOffice.org document will not be automatically embedded in an exported PDF.
So it seems unlikely that this is going to be supported. I'm going to do a test with PrimoPDF. I'll let you know what happens.

I created a PDF using the free version of PrimoPDF, with the same result. Perhaps to create a PDF with that type of functionality in it you might need to be using a full PDF editing suite, like some of Adobe's own tools.
